Mercedes-Benz Heater Core Problems

When your Mercedes fails to blow warm air on that cold night, chances are there is something wrong with the heater core or the other parts of the heating system.  Heater core looks like a small radiator, and that is exactly what it is. Hot coolant carrying heat from the engine cycles through the heater core, and when you turn on warm air, blower motor directs air over this radiator, causing the air  to warm up, and then through the vents it enters the cabin. When this system malfunctions, it is likely that either the blower motor is not doing its job (no air is coming out of the vents), or there is a problem with the heater core itself. Low coolant levels will negatively impact heating function, and they are often due to heater core leaks. Clogged heater core can also results in insufficient heat transfer, and so can a faulty heater valve.
